Meditate
Just like body exercises enhance our cardiovascular health and regulate blood pressure, similarly meditation helps in maintaining the health of our brain. It alters all the gray matter of the brain and improves memory and sense of self. According to the Harvard researchers, meditation provides nutrients and energy to neurons, which make it easy to recall any known information more quickly.
Understand The Perspective Of Others
Understand The Perspective Of Others
When you try and understand the way others think, you break yourself from the shackles of your own thinking. Until now, you might have considered looking from someone else’s perspective as only a rush of emotions, but it is also a great way of boosting up one’s own mental ability.
Move Out Of Your Comfort Zone
Move Out Of Your Comfort Zone
The best way to put your brain to exercise is by doing something which is not familiar to it. Try and learn those things that stand out of your interest zone. Do not stick to the skills of which you are already a master. Join a dance school, if you have never shook a leg on the dance floor or enroll yourself in a computer course if all those programming codes scare you.
Solve Puzzles
Playing games that require logical thinking not only enhances one’s memory, but also delays memory loss, especially in the case of people who suffers from dementia. Be it a puzzle, a crossword or sudoku, all keeps the muscles of the brain active.
Sleep Well
Your brain never stops functioning. It works while you are asleep too. When you get sufficient sleep at night, your brain clears out all unpleasant memories of the day from your system and refreshes you enough to learn new things. A study proves that sleeping after learning a new concept strengthens connections between brain cells and enhances memory. So, if possible you can also take few power naps throughout the day to recharge your brain and keep it sharp for a longer period of time.
Teach Someone Else
According to psychologists, when a person teaches new concepts to others, it is more likely that he/she will retain the content for a longer duration of time. So, if you are about to sit for an important exam, call your friends or study partner at your place and teach them whatever you have studied until now. And when you will sit down to write your exam, you will realize your brain remembers the minutest details of the concept you taught others.
